Society of Photographers, Howrah was setup in the year 1964 primarily with
goal to promote Photography in the city as well as in the country.
Now it has become an Institution by itself, it has photography teaching units
through which several thousands of students are taught photographic art and science
through lecturers, outing, darkroom and other trainings.
Society is organising an International Exhibition of Colour Slides (Photography)
with participants from 35 to 40 countries from the World & the Country. This
is the oldest alive exhibition of its kind in Asia.
The society has a membership strength of about 300. Many of them are having International
reputation in the exhibition & other photography.
